Tsonjin Boldog

Tsonjin Boldog is a famous cultural and historical landmark located about 54 kilometers east of Ulaanbaatar, on the open steppe of Töv Province. It is best known as the site of the iconic Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue Complex, home to the world’s largest equestrian statue, which stands an impressive 40 meters tall and can be seen from far across the plains.

The massive stainless-steel statue depicts Genghis Khan on horseback, symbolizing Mongolia’s rich history and national pride. Visitors can ride an elevator inside the horse’s body to a viewing platform in the horse’s head, where panoramic views of the surrounding countryside stretch in every direction.

The complex also includes a museum, exhibition halls, souvenir shops, and traditional ger camps, offering insight into Mongolian history, nomadic culture, and the life of the great khan. The surrounding landscape is ideal for photography, short hikes, and cultural activities such as trying on traditional costumes or enjoying local cuisine.

With its blend of modern architecture, open steppe scenery, and deep historical symbolism, Tsonjin Boldog is one of the most popular must-visit attractions near Ulaanbaatar and a highlight for travelers exploring central Mongolia.
