Mongolia is a land of profound contrasts, where some of Earth’s most diverse biomes converge under one “Eternal Blue Sky.” While the vastness of the steppe can take weeks to cross, the spiritual and historical heart of the nation beats strongest in the Orkhon Valley. This 5-day Mongolian heritage tour is a curated “deep dive” into the glory of the 13th century, specifically designed for those who want to stand where the Great Khans once ruled.
From the towering equestrian monuments of the east to the white stupas of the ancient capital, this is your definitive guide to experiencing Mongolia’s imperial history in a compact, high-impact journey.
Your journey begins with a tribute to the man who started it all. Before heading to the ancient capital, we visit the Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue (Tsonjin Boldog). Rising 40 meters above the plains, this silver giant marks the legendary spot where the Great Khan found a golden whip. It serves as a symbolic entrance to the Mongolian wilderness.
Nearby, Gorkhi-Terelj National Park offers a dramatic prelude to the history of the west. Among the granite rock formations like Turtle Rock, you will hike to the Ariyabal Meditation Temple. Built in the shape of an elephant’s head, this temple provides a quiet moment of Zen and panoramic views of the alpine scenery, setting the stage for the spiritual journey ahead.
As we journey toward Kharkhorum, we encounter Elsen Tasarkhai, famously known as the “Mini Gobi.” This unique geological ribbon of sand dunes stretches through the heart of the green steppe, representing the diverse biomes of Mongolia in a single glance.
This was a vital point on the ancient Silk Road. Here, you will trade your vehicle for a Bactrian camel, riding across the golden dunes as nomads have for centuries. It is a place where the forest, the mountains, and the desert meet—a geographical metaphor for the sprawling reaches of the Mongol Empire at its height.
The climax of this 5-day tour is Kharkhorin, the site of Karakorum, the 13th-century capital of the Mongol Empire. While the wooden palaces of the Khans are long gone, their spirit remains within the walls of the Erdene Zuu Monastery.
Constructed in 1585 using the stones from the ruins of the ancient capital, Erdene Zuu is the oldest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. Enclosed by a massive square wall featuring 108 white stupas, the complex is a masterpiece of religious architecture. Standing in the central courtyard, you are standing at what was once the center of the known world—a place where silk, gold, and ideas from Europe and Asia once converged under the protection of the Khans.
No expedition into Mongolia’s past is complete without experiencing the natural elements that sustained its people. The heartbeat of the steppe is its water. At Ugii Lake, a freshwater sanctuary in the middle of the dry plains, you will find a peaceful retreat for lakeside relaxation.
To balance the ruggedness of the journey, we retreat to the Tsenkher Hot Springs. Tucked away in a lush valley of the Khangai Mountains, these natural thermal waters have flowed for millennia. To soak in these mineral-rich pools as the mountain mist settles over the forest is to experience the ultimate balance of Mongolia’s raw power and its soothing, quiet peace.
Throughout these five days, you aren’t just looking at ruins; you are living the culture. You will visit nomadic families in their traditional gers, tasting the hospitality that has remained unchanged for a thousand years. From the urban energy of Ulaanbaatar’s folk concerts to the silent majesty of the Orkhon Valley, this tour proves that the legacy of the Mongol Empire isn’t just found in history books—it is alive in the wind, the horses, and the hospitality of the people.
Join us for an unforgettable odyssey into the richness of the Mongolian heartland. This is an intimate expedition designed for those who want to see the world as it was meant to be—raw, spiritual, and legendary.

May to September is the best season, with the peak season in July for the Naadam Festival. July and August are also the wettest months of the year but be assured, our climate is such that you will still have many sunny days at this time. The best time to visit the Gobi is June or September.
Because Naadam (July 11–15) is our national holiday, during this period – specially july is the best period for travel to catch the local events. But remember to book up 3–6 months in advance. *
Tip: If you plan to travel during this week, contact us early to secure your “Peak Season” spot. Note that a small surcharge applies during this window due to the high demand for local logistics.
Mongolia is a land of untouched beauty, but it is also a place where modern infrastructure is still developing. To enjoy your trip, it helps to embrace the nomadic lifestyle!
Once we leave the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, Western-style flush toilets become rare.
In the Countryside: Most stops will feature traditional “pit toilets” (wooden outhouses).
On the Road: During long drives, we often use “nature’s bathroom” (finding a private spot behind a hill or bush).
💡 Pro-Tip: We recommend always carrying a small kit with hand sanitizer, wet wipes, and tissues in your day bag.
Mongolia is a vast country with very few paved roads.
The “Mongolian Massage”: Expect long drives on bumpy, unpaved tracks. It is part of the adventure, but it can be tiring.
The Reward: These “rough” roads are exactly what keep Mongolia’s nature so pristine and free from tourist crowds!
Charging: In many Ger camps, electricity is only available for a few hours in the evening via solar power or generators.
💡 Pro-Tip: Bring a high-capacity power bank to keep your camera and phone charged throughout the journey.
Mongolia is known as the “Land of the Eternal Blue Sky,” but that sun can be intense!
The Gobi Heat: During July, temperatures in the Gobi can exceed 35°C (95°F). Most traditional Ger camps do not have air conditioning, as they are designed for natural ventilation.
The Night Chill: Conversely, even in summer, temperatures can drop rapidly after sunset.
💡 Pro-Tip: Dress in breathable, light-colored fabrics for the day, but keep a warm sweater ready for the evening.
Summer is the “rainy” season, but it usually comes in short, dramatic bursts rather than days of drizzle. These rains make the steppe turn a beautiful, vibrant green!
Why book with a group during extreme weather?
Safety in Numbers: If a sudden storm or heatwave hits, our heavy-duty 4WD vehicles 🚐 provide a safe, climate-controlled sanctuary.
Cost Efficiency: Sharing the cost of a high-quality, reliable vehicle means you stay comfortable in the heat without paying a “private luxury” premium. The more friends you bring, the better the ride for everyone! 💸
